What is Nen?
Nen (ๅฟต) is the ability to tap into, manipulate, and control life energy (Aura) produced by all living beings. In the world of Hunter ร Hunter, aura flows continuously through microscopic body pores known as aura nodes.
While every living creature generates aura subconsciously, untrained individuals bleed their life energy out constantly. True Nen masters learn to open their aura nodes deliberately and direct the flow with absolute precision.
The Four Major Principles (Yลko Tokushubetsu)
Every practitioner of Shingen-ryu Kung Fu begins their journey by mastering the four foundational pillars:
Maintaining open aura nodes while keeping the aura contained closely around the body like a second skin. Ten provides passive defense, slows physical aging, and prevents physical fatigue.
Shutting all aura nodes completely to extinguish the user's presence. Zetsu is ideal for stealth and tracking, but leaves the user at 0% physical defense against Nen attacks.
Forcing aura nodes wide open to erupt with high-volume, dense aura output. Ren is essential for powering high-tier offensive techniques and enduring heavy damage.
The personal, signature expression of one's aura. Hatsu reflects an individual's unique personality, emotional desires, and natural affinity on the hexagonal Nen wheel.
